Evening Talk -
Mnemosyne: Forgotten Goddess of Memory
Brainwave Invocation & EEG

Sun 14 May, 7pm-10pm
£6.50 + b.f. in advance / £8.00 on the door

This talk is about member of the illustrious ranks of Greek Goddesses - Mnemosyne. Mnemosyne (Memory) was conceived in a union between Ouranos and Gaia (Heaven and Earth). As the personification of memory, she names all that exists in the world. In this way, she enters into the world and draws a veil between the material realms and creative spirit of The All. She is the psychopomp that can take you between the worlds. The power of Memory is the force that enables mortals to enter the unconscious, collect the treasures of the divine and bring them in to the light of day.

About Sarah Janes:

Sarah Janes is the host of The Explorers Club in St. Leonards-on-Sea, a lecture club preoccupied by esoteric subjects, consciousness, psychology and ancient history. Her main area of study is dreams and she is currently writing a book about the ancient tradition and modern application of dream incubation and sleep temples, due for publication in 2018 - Lake of Mnemosyne (Muswell Hill Press).

Inspired by the tradition of the dream narrative (Iamata) in the Ancient Greek Asklepions, she has started an audiostory project for children. Using classical techniques of dream incubation, these stories are designed to influence dreams and bring new stories into existence. Children are invited to submit their dreams, which are then woven into future narratives. You can listen to the first instalment here.

About Luciana Haill:

Luciana Haill invites participants to explore and measure their own brainwaves during this invocation of Mnemosyne.
She is concerned with esoteric ways of accessing the Visionary. Sometimes using contemporary photic entrainment devices including classic dream machines and hypnagogic light technology.

Luciana is an Honorary Fellow in the Department of Psychology in Greenwich University, London. Her participatory installations, talks and performances have taken place internationally. Her techniques involve Neuro-feedback, a training process using technology to provide you with more information about what your brain is doing.

She has appeared on TV and Radio triggering 3D spatial sounds via brainwaves. In 2015, she collaborated with musician Arthur Brown on a new piece of performative EEG art.
