Lily Karen Horne | Visionary Art

Lily Karen is a visionary artist based in Liverpool, currently studying for a BA in Fine Art Painting at St Helen's College. She has studied with the Vienna Academy of Visionary Art for short workshops with Amanda Sage and Alex and Allyson Grey, as well as the Visions in the Mischtechnik summer seminar 2016.

Although centred around painting, her practice is underpinned by observational drawing and she regularly attends classes with the Liver Sketching Club, the longest-running drawing club in the UK. Lily has previously exhibited locally within Liverpool, including at the Walker Art Gallery, and in her home region of North Yorkshire.

Lily has always loved making art, and her interest in this deepened as a teenager when drawing became a therapeutic practice for her. She first discovered the Visionary Art community while studying for an Art Foundation Diploma at Scarborough School of Arts in 2013.

Inspired by the natural world, her work often includes images of plants, animals and the human form. The themes depicted within her paintings also frequently originate in dream imagery. Many of her pieces incorporate sacred geometry, both in the underlying structure of forms and in mandala type patterns which she creates intuitively.

She uses traditional techniques and mediums to explore how art can be used to express internal truths and to bring beauty into the world.
